Erick subsequently took a full time position with his father’s custom carpentry business after graduating high school. After attending Indian River State College, studying drafting, design, music theory and graphic arts, he made the leap in his professional career from construction to design. Settling in with a small architectural firm in North Palm Beach, Florida, Erick continued to hone his skills by focusing on large scale commercial and government work. Additionally, working with a national millwork company in Gainesville, Florida, Erick was able to produce custom millwork design and drawings for multiple prestigious projects in major metropolitan areas such as: Robertson Steven & Sports Club Boston, The Pierpont Morgan Library, Tiffany’s 5th Ave, New York Raquet Club, Reuters in New York City and the US Courthouse, Brooklyn, New York. In early 2002, he augmented his architectural career by taking a project management position with a prominent South Florida Architecture firm, working on large scale residential, commercial, and resort and leisure developments for such clients as Blackstone Development Group, LXR Luxury Resorts, Gencom Development and many more. In 2010, Erick joined his professional colleague and friend Brent Wood, to assist in the formation of a world class Architectural firm, Brent A Wood Architecture.
Beginning his professional career in Atlanta, Georgia, Brent’s focus was on luxury, mid-rise multi-family residential and destination resort projects in both the United States and Puerto Rico. Such hotel clients included Starwood Hotels, Hyatt and Ritz Carlton Hotels. In 2000, Brent returned to his home town of Stuart Florida, working for a prestigious South Florida architecture firm, where he continued to hone his craft, managing projects for clients including Blackstone Development, Luxury Resorts, Gencom Development and private land owners in Costa Rica. Developing projects in the Caribbean and Central America provided Brent exposure to foreign development standards, and the challenges of building resorts in non-English speaking countries. His South Florida based clientele included City Furniture, where Brent worked with corporate management to re-brand the company’s brick and mortar stores, starting with the Boca Raton flagship showroom. Additionally, Brent was responsible for managing major renovations to Dunn Capital Management’s corporate headquarters, along with building the Monterey Medical Center, both located in Stuart, Florida. Owning a boutique firm affords Brent the opportunity to provide his clients with comprehensive services, while maintaining personal involvement with every project from design concept through construction administration.
